Prostatitis
Prostatitis, inflammation of prostate gland, is a widespread male disease. About 70 per cent of men at the age of 35-45 years old suffer from prostatitis. Therefore the problem of efficient therapy for chronic prostatitis is very important especially for men who are able-bodied and fertile. Lately the scientists noted the increase of prevalence and heaviness of this disease, because many of patients delay the doctor’s visit till the last moment when it may be too late.
Clinical signs of this disease are many-sided. More frequently the chronic prostatitis develops slowly and imperceptibly with vague symptoms. At first the patient usually feels small decrease of sexual activity and is not satisfied with the quality of his sexual life. The first serious symptoms are: dysuria (reduction of urine stream force, frequent urination during day or night time, imperative feeling of urination, painful urination), painful sensations in the perineum area associated with ejaculation. Little by little the most part of prostate gland becomes involved into inflammatory process that leads to stable impotency and sterility.
Pathogenesis of the disease is based on the formation of “vicious circle”. Initially the prostate is in unfavorable anatomical position, because it is constantly in bad conditions due to venous stagnation (passive congestion). This causes the loss of tissue immunity and therefore leads to contact, lymphogenous or hematogenous infection. Inflammatory process results in deterioration of secretion outflow, then glandular acinuses become overfilled with secretion, what is followed by disturbance of microcirculation and contractile function of glandular segments. This creates favorable conditions for spreading the infection involving new prostate segments. And when the greater part of prostate is enveloped in chronic inflammatory process, the bacterium that has caused inflammation no longer plays the leading role, because even in the absence of bacteria the inflammatory process will progress due to involving autoimmune and hardening processes.
Thus it is evident that elimination of infection agents will not lead to recovery, but only will provide the remission of the disease with following reactivation of inflammation. Therefore the key aspect of treatment should not be the antibacterial therapy, but the normalization of secretion outflow from glandular acinuses and restoring of blood microcirculation, as well as the increase of contractile activity of muscle elements in pelvic area.
Above-stated principles require some universal method of treatment, which is physiotherapy, and in the first place pulse stimulation.
According to medical literature Elbott first used pulse stimulation for treatment of men’s diseases in 1899. Later, in 1916, Klemner examined the influence of current stimulation on men’s potency. Lately different types of physiotherapy are used for treatment of chronic prostatitis and its consequences, they are: electrotherapy, dyadinamic currents therapy, pulse stimulation, used with transrectal, endourethral and sacro-abdominal methods, which provide the effect on reflex zones and spinal centers responsible for erection and ejaculation.
But these devices have some disadvantages, which are: high prices, low capacity, bulky size, impossibility of use in home conditions, invasive approach, inadequate purposefulness of electromagnetic waves. Taking into account the fact that patients do not like to be in the hospital and prefer to take out-patient treatment, or better, at home, so they need a simple, compact, and safe physiotherapeutic device, which they may use as many times as they need.
Autonomous electrical stimulator “Erektron” is highly effective, non-expensive, safe and convenient to use, it conforms to all of above-stated requirements and may be a good doctor’s and patient’s assistant.
Therapeutic indications for treatment by using “Erektron”
- Chronic prostatitis in the stadium of moderate aggravation or remission stadium
- Sexual dysfunction in association with chronic prostatitis or without it, that includes:
- Deterioration of erection of penis;
- Disability to keep up the erection during the coitus (before ejaculation);
- Decrease of coitus duration;
- Lack of ejaculation or its difficulty;
- Deterioration of orgasm sensation.
Contraindications
- Implanted cardioaccelerator (pacer);
- Individual intolerance;
- Hemorrhoids in acute stage;
- Epilepsy;
- Prostatitis in acute stage;
- Benign prostatic hypertrophy (overgrowth of prostate gland), acute urinary retention (difficulty);
- Malignant neoplasm of genitourinary apparatus;
- Age of patient more than 60 years old.
Questionnaire “Men’s sexual function”
It is a questionnaire made by World Health Organization for estimating men’s erectile function. Please choose only one answer which fits your condition best of all. In the last six months:

Sum up your points. If you have 21 point and less, it means you have some sexual dysfunction and should consult a doctor (andrologist or urologist) and try to use the electrical pulse stimulator “Erektron”.
The effect of treatment in clinical studies
As a result of treatment by electrical pulse stimulator “Erektron” many of the patients note they feel better (86%), note the pain and dysuria reduction (76%), and improvement of sexual function (81%), that includes the increase of libido (sexual desire) (62%) and adequate penis erection (71%), and prolongation of coitus period (76%).
7 patients who had the prostatorrhea have noted the reduction of this phenomenon.
When doing digital rectal examination doctors noted the edema reduction and tone normalization, as well as the relief of pain syndrome.
Examination of prostate secretion has shown the normalization of leucocytes amount and the increase of content of lecithine granules.
The sperm analysis has shown the increase of total amount of spermatozoids (67%) as well as their activity and mobility (76%).
Ultrasound examination has revealed the diminution of prostate size (61%).
Examination of patients in 1 month and later – in 6 months, has proved the stable remission during this period. The control group of patients with chronic prostatitis was treated with traditional methods (drug therapy, massage of prostate) without use of electrical pulse stimulator “Erectron”; direct and long-term results of treatment were investigated.
Conclusion
The use of electrical pulse stimulator “Erektron” is rather effective for treatment of chronic prostatitis complicated by erectile and reproductive dysfunction.
1. The electrical stimulator “Erektron” causes the analgesic effect due to specific electrical pulse influence.
2. The improvement of trophic and metabolism processes reduces the edema and inflammation, that contributes to good reparation process.
3. Quick and stable restoring of sexual and reproductive function is reached in most of the patients, that results in the harmonious relationships between sexual partners.
4. The method of use of stimulator “Erektron” is simple, safe and available for the most part of the patients.
